Welcome to the

Indoor Bonsai Course

The Ma-Ke Bonsai has run bonsai courses since 2007, with The Beginners Bonsai Course being our most popular course. Over the years, we have had more and more of our clients needing to grow bonsai indoors as they have no access to a garden space or want to grow bonsai indoors.

The Indoor Bonsai Course is a day-long, intensive course that will give you the skill and confidence you need to grow your bonsai indoors. It will identify the common pitfall and problems of developing bonsai indoors and how to care for and train your bonsai. Finally, it will identify species that you can grow indoors.

It is aimed at beginners, but even practising enthusiasts have found it grounding and enlightening. You don't even need to have a bonsai! Just the will to want to learn how to grow bonsai.

The day is divided into 3 Modules, over which we will cover the following topics. You will work on Indoor Bonsai to give you and on experience needed. While Bonsai Techniques are similar for both Indoor and Outdoor Bonsai, growing them indoors has additional challenges, and we shall cover these in-depth.

Venue

All Classes are held at my Home Workshop and Garden in Ma-Ke Bonsai, 66 Harvey Road, Whitton, Greater London, TW4 5LU

Dates & Duration

TThe Bonsai Course is an intensive day session that covers the three modules above, these are comprised of both hands-on and theoretical elements. Depending on the weather we will be working both indoors and outdoors. So please dress suitably.

Timings

The 10 am - 4 pm. Please arrive 10 min earlier for registration.

The Beginners Bonsai Course Fees are £150. You pay a non-refundable £75 at the time of booking your place and £75 on the day of the Bootcamp.

Delivery:

The course is delivered in sections that are tutored, and sections that are very hands-on. We believe it is import to understand the Why as much as the How and the When, as this prepares you to respond to and even anticipate the needs of your bonsai, so they can enjoy and long, healthy, and fruitful existence with you.

General Information

Tea and Coffees will be available throughout the day. Please bring a packed lunch, there will be a short break between morning and afternoon sessions. Please dress warmly as we work both in the studio and outdoors in the nursery and London weather can be very changeable.

103: Bonsai Tree Repotting

Bonsai trees are grown in a small container with a limited amount of soil, which needs to be replenished from time to time. Introductory soil science, repotting techniques and methodologies are covered to ensure that you have successful stress-free repotting.
